LDL/HDL CHOL Direct is an innovative and improved assay for the direct measurement of the major predictive parameters for coronary heart disease, LDL and HDL. Combined, direct measurement eliminates the need for formulas, reliability is enhanced compared to separate assays of the individual forms of cholesterol and the fluctuation of values due to biological variation is reduced. Additionally, costs are reduced as one simple automated test does it all. The sample is electrophoresed and a special substrate allows for the visualization and quantitation of only the cholesterol containing portion of the fractions, which include LDL, VLDL and HDL cholesterols.
