Sebia's comprehensive assay is a unique approach to urine profiling. The classification of proteinuria as tubular, glomerular, mixed, or overload is combined with the identification of any monoclonal component. A complete kidney assessment can be provided with one simple immunofixation assay.

This assay utilizes unconcentrated urine eliminating the cost and time involved in concentrating fluids. Processed virtually identically to Sebia's other IF assays with antisera being applied after the sample is electrophoresed, the Urine Profile antisera kit contains seven antisera: a trivalent consisting of IgG, IgA, and IgM, two antisera detecting both free and bound Kappa and Lambda Light Chains, and two antisera detecting only free Kappa and Lambda Light Chains. This unique combination of antisera allows the positive identification of true free light chain, or Bence Jones, proteins ruling out, with confidence, the possible presence of IgD or IgE. Tubular and glomerular antisera are also provided completing the profile.

The enhanced sensitivity of the assay, in part achieved by using an acid violet stain, combined with unsurpassed band resolution and gel clarity facilitates interpretation. Agarose gels and kits are available in a range of sizes to accommodate any size workload while providing optimal cost effectiveness for all laboratories.
