Proteinuria is an innovative assay designed to classify conditions of proteinuria as either tubular, glomerular, mixed, or overload. Free light chain screening can simultaneously also be performed with this one test. The composition and porosity of this gel allows the separation of proteins according to their molecular weights. The very sensitive staining solution provided with the kit contains acid violet allowing direct analysis of all urinary proteins without requiring concentration of the sample. It is recommended that 24 hour samples be used for this testing. A molecular weight marker is also available to assist in protein identification.
