Acid Hemoglobin is the companion kit to Sebia' Alkaline Hemoglobin assay and is intended to differentiate abnormal hemoglobins such as S from D and C from E. These abnormal hemoglobins, which co-migrate with others in an alkaline pH, can be readily identified by visual interpretation when compared to their patterns electrophoresed at an acid pH.
With a kit shelf life of at least 18 months, hemoglobin processing is a more economical option to other assays such as citrate agar. Additionally, utilizing the HYDRASYS system is more cost-effective than HPLC and provides walk-away automation to process large numbers of samples quickly.
